Hurt chick

I have an 8 day old chick with a growth on the back of her leg (almost like a beak) that is poking her in the rear causing a small wound. What is this ? Should I cut it off ? What should I put on the wound ? She is eating and drinking but limps. I have her separated from the others. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
