We have turkeys and theyre a few weeks old and we only have solar at our farm and i dont think it would make it through the night running a heat lamp so we currently have them at our house with a heat lamp at night. theyre starting to be a problem here so were anxious to get them out to the farm but i dont know if they would be ok. I know the general rule of decreasing temp 5 degrees a week but i also read that youd be suprised how well they can do if kept away from drafts. Were in Ohio and its been around 80 during the day and 60 at night. If I put them out without a heat lamp and they were away from drafts, would they be ok?

How old are they - a "few weeks" can mean different things to different people and there is a big difference in the feathering and readiness to be away from heat between a 2/3 week old or a 5/6 week old. If you aren't sure of the age or how to describe how well feathered they are you can post photos of our poults.
Are there other birds already in the area they will be moving into? If so, what breeds/species/ages? Is the area they will be going into secure from predators? Both these factors will be considered in whether you can move them sooner rather than later.
