One of our hens is being picked on by all the others

We have 8 hens. Lately, I have only see 7 out in the run. When we were getting the eggs we noticed that the eighth was brooding the eggs. O.K. broody hen. Today I noticed that the other hens were attacking her. Literally seeking her out and pecking at her. She was so upset she was trying to get out of the run towards me. Is this normal behavior? Is there something I should be concerned about?
 
Broody hens often get pecked, attacked, and are involved in fights because of their disruptive behavior, yet another reason to break them as soon as you notice it.
