Cockerel's feathers turned curly?!

Hi Everyone! Does anyone know why my 9 month old cockerel's feathers that are normally smooth have suddenly turned curly and frizzy overnight? In case you are wondering, he did not get wet or stick his beak in an electrical outlet. I've never seen anything like this. He seems normal otherwise.

A picture would help, I'm unaware of anything that would cause that to happen in one night, it would help to see what you are talking about.
