My 27 year old cousin was taking care of her horse and she saw this cat chasing a duckling so she took it home. She teaches some animal science classes at an Ag college so she was trying to find someone with ducklings to take it, and she remembered I just hatched some out so now I have it!
I'm going to keep one of the ducklings I hatched out for company, or see if my hen with 2 chicks will take it.

I'm wondering what breed it is, it is next to a small rubber duck in this picture.

It is most likely a wild duck breed, I was thinking maybe wood duck

That's a wood duck... will need a lot of encouragement to eat...

It loves eating. Like I said my cousin is an animal science teacher so she made sure it wasn't lethargic and made sure it was eating.
It's actually eating more then my Pekin x Swedish ducks

Good deal! The biggest issue with rescuing wood ducklings is they tend to refuse to eat... easily traumatized, I believe... such a cute little one... :)

Looks a lot like a woodie to me too! She/he is so cute! I love the look of wood ducks.

Thank you for the help!

Also does it need niacin. I usually raise ducks for selling by day 2 so I haven't had experience with ducklings in a few years.
It's water currently gas electrolytes also

Yes, I believe so... there is another BYCer that raised a rescue wood duck... @attimus same niacin deficiency as domestic ducks?

Its super friendly also. It was peeping so it's snuggling me now. Which I will have to refrain myself from doing
