So about a month ago I had bought 4 polish top hat chicks from a lady, two of the 4 died. One was healthy and the other had a splayed leg. They were getting some feathers at the time, I tried the hobbles and all tricks to fix it, but it must have been too late to fix. My boyfriend said I should have had it euthanized, but that poor guy has so much heart!!!! So my question is, has anyone ever made a wheel chair or something for a chicken to help it walk? If so how? I wanna get him able to get around with the others. He does pretty good, but now he's getting bigger, he has a hard time getting around. Any help would be appreciated

Do you have any pictures of him? Splayed leg usually needs help right after it is found. Slipped tendon or leg bone deformities can often be confused with that. Many people keep chicks with problems in a small flock like you are doing, and just make sure that he can get to food and water. Chicken slinga and chairs can also be used to get them off the ground to keep them cleaner and upright.

I can get pics later. The leg now sticks right out behind him. He gets around okay. And I have the feeders and water on the ground for easy access. I'm thinking the person I got them from never treated it in time. They were already getting feathers when I goth them.
