8wk old Easter Egger - pullet or cockerel?

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone could offer an opinion on my 8 wk old EE. It was bought sexed as female but I've always questioned for different reasons.

A couple nights ago I went in to close them up and needed to move her to the correct side of the coop to be safe. When I picked her up the noise that came out was a new one! Not a crow really, but a longer scratchy voice. Maybe like the first part/sound of a crow but not enough to be certain.

Anyway, I can't decide. I'd be thrilled if she is a he. She & the others have been free ranging for the last month which wasn't the plan but they have done great. I'd like to continue but would want a roo to join them.

I think there is just the one row on the comb which I thought meant pullet...

the size of her comb and wattles, her stance (roos hold themselves much more upright)
how her tail isn't big
and her hackles (roo hackles are pointed)
my silkie for stance the little brown one is one of my hens and the tan one is also a hen


you can sorta see how much pointer his hackles are.
and the comb on the hen is big because she is full grown.

The EE's are harder for me distinguish (these are my first two), they seem so variable in the first place. I probably just need to look at as many pictures as possible.

Agree you have a pullet. Her coloring is classic for a female EE. A male would not only have a larger, plumper comb, he'd be showing rooster colors with bright red patches, especially on the wings. He'd also be leggier and kind of gawky looking, if that makes sense.
 
Thank you! I have a second EE and she is much smaller & even colored than this one was which made it difficult for me to be certain.

And yes, I said was. Somehow she and my silver laced wyandotte managed to wiggle under some 1" wire fencing into the area where our 5 mo old poodles were playing.

So sad, we've put so much time into keeping the dogs (and all predators) away from them but I did not consider the chicks getting into where the dogs play.
