Where can I get chicks?

Hello, I am looking for some chicks. I can't find a hatchery that will let me get only 3 chicks. At the moment, I have two hens. So I can't be ordering 15 chicks like some hatcheries require. If any of you know where I could get only 3 chicks, please let me know. I would very much appreciate it. I also attached a poll. I would appreciate it if you could answer it? I want to get some chickens that would have more of a people friendly personality.

One option would be to buy started pullets.

. They would be 20 to 24 weeks old, so they would be just about ready to lay, which is nice. True, you pay more, but you can get as few as 1, and you are released of the stress and worry of brooding chicks. Murray McMurray hatchery sells them. So does Purely Poultry. I think Puerly Poultry's are a bit younger, but they are feathered out, so no brooder involved.

Check out Craigslist! Our very first set of chicks were from someone local who hatched more chicks than she needed. It was a really easy transaction, no waiting on shipping, etc.
also, I voted for cochins in your poll- they are by far the sweetest birds we've ever had. Seemed friendly right from the egg!

Where do you live? You might find online there is a poultry swap in your area. (and definitely check craigslist)
