Here's a picture of the female I'm not sure what she is I think it was Oriental frill or a classic same difference I think. They were given to me as old German owls go figure?

This pair of birds been sitting on their eggs for about almost 19 days I'm wondering if there is any way I can check to see if there is a baby bird inside the egg

after looking at pics again the bird in the nest appears to be a cross frills have peak crest and old german owls have full crest and old german owls are clean legged and have no frills on there chest theres a facebook page for both breeds theres a guy that has a website goes by circus loft he may know of breeders there in az. if you are interested

It is quite common for first time hens not to incubate their clutch of eggs. Where she is laying eggs for you sounds like you are doing a lot of things right. A simple thing such as a thunder storm can sometimes prevent incubation. Some times giving the pair some solitude might be the ticket especially if you have an aggressive alpha male in your loft.

Maybe a cardboard box with a hole to give the new hen some privacy while she incubates might be the answer.. About all you can do is hope for better luck next time. I assume you have a nest bowl and are providing nesting material if you do not bother with nest bowls..

I also employ the square cat litter pails two pair of my pigeons who nest on the floor prefer them something similar to this pail
I cut a hole in the lid living a 4 inch lip in the front to hold pine shavings lay it on it's side in and you are good to go.

I use pine needles and what ever twigs and grasses come along when I rake them up. This is a dog bowl that I use it is approximately 10 inches in diameter and I pick them up at the Dollar Store.
