We have 8 7 month old hens. 4 are New Hampshire reds and 4 are Australorps. They attacked my husbands 12 year old Pomeranian and I would like to know why they would do this. Thank you.

They might have thought that the dog was a predator - and so ganged up on it to scare it away before it could hurt any of them. Or the dog could have made an aggressive move (purposely or not) and startled the chickens into protection mode.
