The feed store said they where both Blk Copper Maran's but i think differently, any quesses???

Someone just said in another feed that they where both mixes
agree with Queen Misha
They look mixed to me. If they are BCM from a hatchery, honestly I'd not use either of them for breeding.

Why wouldn't you breed them
I believe donrae is referring to use in any breeding program where it was important the birds were pure and good quality. For example an Olive Egger project. They would be fine to breed of you were just, say, looking to produce some fun-looking backyard egg layers or meat cockerels.
Yep, I meant for a Marans breeding project. If you can't look at the animal and say "That's a nice Marans" or whatever the breed, it's not good enough quality for a breeding program.
But, for backyard/mixed breeding, not a thing wrong with them.

Ok the roosters are trying but i can't really tell what's going on I'm used to breeding Pitbulls not chickens,do they get stuck like dogs do?

How would i kno if then hens lays fertilized or non fertilized eggs?How many do they normally lay?
