Hello!

One of my chickens has been limping for about a week now. She is completely fine otherwise. There is nothing visible wrong with her foot or leg. She will let me touch it, move it, push on it. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone! Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

I had a girl that started limping and then she started limping but she was dragging her foot with the limp, eventually losing all function in her leg. I suspect it was Mereks. She was completely fine other than her leg paralysis. Is your chicken slightly dragging its foot on each step? I thought mine had bumble foot. She did have a scab. I cut it out a cleaned it. Had her sperated from the other girls. She went from limping to dragging in a time frame of 3 weeks.

@cluckercot thank you! I looked but not that closely..so I will grab her again to be sure.

@Katie F she isn't dragging it as of yet.. But today I found on the floor of the coop instead of on her roost so I'm not sure if she's worse.

I wasn't worried, but now I'm getting nervous about her.

This just happened to me last week so I feel your pain right now. We had to put our girl down. The rest of my flock seems to be doing fine. There are (from what I've read) a lot of different things that can cause lameness and paralysis. I'm new to chicken keeping so it's been an experience for me for sure. I've had all of my girls together since they were chicks so I'm not sure what happened.

Sorry for your loss as well. :(

I'm praying it's just early bumblefoot or just a mild foot injury for your girl. Might be best to seperate her from the rest of the flock for now (if you haven't done that already) my girls picked on tge one that couldn't walk well pretty badly. She wasn't getting the food and water she needed.

She isn't separated only bc they aren't bothering with her at all (I'm keeping a very close watch!) I separated her for a bit yesterday only to watch her and it just seemed to stress her out. I tried giving her 1/2 of a low dose aspirin, but that only made a very minor improvement. I'll keep it up though to see if it makes her better other wise I'm at a loss for what to do
