Wont use the roosting bar -- ideas to remake the bar?

IKEA cabinet turned coop. Shelves became the back wall and the interior furniture of unused roosting bar and poorly used nesting box with insufficiently sloped roof :)

I used the big round poles at first for my roosting bar in the coop and my chickens would not use it. But I did notice that they would jump up on the five foot high 2x6 shelf I put in the run for a safety spot. I switched out the pole for a 2x6 and they immediately started roosting on it. They alway like to jockey for position on the roost and I think they were slipping too much on the round pole. Also make sure your roost is highest spot they can get on.
