Happy Fall Yall!!

I was wondering if anyone uses Crystals in the Coop?

what about a Prizim? Would that freak a Chicken out? with the rainbow effect.....

I would like to place a few Crystals in my coop for my gals and guy, but was wondering if anyone else does it....

Not seen them in coops but years a go a friend had them near her horses stable and swore by them.
I'm guessing if they were high enough away from the chickens so they could not eat them I can see no harm in having them in there.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

I don't do that, but I don't think it will freak them out. They do see more color than we can, so it might even be nice.

The place I got my goats had CD's hanging in the doorway to keep the ravens and crows from stealing eggs. They surely put off some sort of prism effect as they spin in the wind. She said it didn't bother the chickens at all.

So, it might take them a short while to get over having something new, depending on how cautious your chickens are, but they should be fine.

Good for you, looking for ways to make your coop more interesting and inviting!

you can buy prism garden tape to have around - Walmart had it during the summer and I'm sure it will be available on line somewhere. At least the chickens wouldn't try to eat it.

One of our young pullets chased round the reflection off the bowl I'd taken out one day - it was pretty cute. We also have a cat who is deaf and she goes mental chasing reflections, car lights at night and lazer pointer lights so it did make me giggle seeing a chicken have the same reaction!

Sorry I know this is an old thread- did you ever try it?! I am assuming chickens would love them because mine love shiny things, especially since they have the extra comb in their eye that makes things ~trippy~. I'm a big fan of crystals (I own an entire shop of them 😂) and I've read about people putting plain old rocks that look like eggs into nesting boxes for training chickens/discouraging egg eating and I'm think about putting ~crystal~ eggs in instead for a little extra comfort... so I'd love to know how this went for you before I freak them out!
