Hitler had Christians in his camps, too. He was the epitome of atheist evil Antichrist what have you.

I've studied some Jewish tradition; I get confused but I try to understand from their perspective. Sometimes we can pick up some interesting tidbits when we cooperate and share instead of persecute what we don't understand.

Do you ever feel really bad knowing that you're related to the people that killed countless men, women, and children? I'm proud of my Irish and German heritage but when I think about that way not so much.

Well, no, honestly. My great grandparents were already over here in the 1800s, so he wasn't MY relation wink.png

Besides, just being German doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. Countless innocent Germans fled the country. So only if you knew for certain that you had relation that was in Hitler's army would I ever even think about it.

And I would then pray for them. Most of them were just following orders, blinded by worldly desires and greed. They need our pity and prayers more than anything, I would think.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. You're right. I'm not sure when my ancestors got to the United States but I'm sure it was before the world wars.

@ I am going to address some of your question might take me multiple post but first one I get at is can the good you do get you in to heaven no it can't Ephesians 2:8-9 address this ephesians2:8 for by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is a Gift of God. Ephesians 2:9 not of works lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:10 for we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Are you talking Hitler persecution? I mean, persecuting another person is wrong in any shape or form, but that was some evil stuff right there.

I would like to draw your attention to the conversation in Job 1 (usually study of topics such as this leaves me with more questions than answers)

Job 1:6-12

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” 12 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

Who is in control? why do good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people? Do we learn more from pain than we do pleasure? Why does God want our love? Why does God send an evil spirit to torment Saul?

Our study of God is fun but does it give us all answers?

edited to add a verse:

Mark 10:17-19New American Standard Bible (NASB)

17 As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments, ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”

I can answer those questions now that I've been slammed on my face by ignorance and having to BEG for something, anything better than what I had. I lost even more. Then I had to admit I didn't have control but I was better off with nothing as long as I had that little grain of faith still inside of me, not ever giving up hope.

Because only when I'd lost everything did I become thankful for what I had and acknowledge that I did indeed need God in my life.

It's not always "fun" learning these things were there to warn you before you did it, and the consequences sting even worse when you've been ignorant to it. But I ALWAYS learn, not always the hard way though, thankfully smile.png

To me that passage says the holy people that were dead, then resurrected and went into the city of Jerusalem... not judged, but to show others it could happen...

51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

I don't wish to study that either.... I was afraid it would come across that way. :)

each of us is on a different path and each has experiences that are as different, yet the Jesus I worship is guiding my steps, pushing me, prodding me, allowing good and bad things into my path to educate me and encourage me to share my knowledge and my experiences with others. Our desire to study different areas of the Bible is an indicator just our complex God is. My parents and those of my wife have passed, one of my siblings has passed, my generation is next, as I look back I see His work. I will pray for each of you now.

in God's grip,

John

Bible documentaries on like, history channel, I don't trust. Most of the guys on the radio are pretty good. Billy Gram and Charles Stanley (Stanley is on TV btw) are famous, and not without reason. They preach the Bible, and nothing else.

I love three things:

1. Jesus, my Lord and Saviour

2. My chickens (notably Peep)

And 3. Star wars (!!)

"People who count their chickens before they act very wisely, because

chickens run about so absurdly that it is impossible to count them acturatly!"
