Hello all,
I thought I'd start a thread for my EE x Sultan project birds. I'm not doing anything fancy, I just want a few birds for my backyard flock that I hatched myself. I am no genetics expert, so who knows.... This might be a flop. But hey, how are you gonna do something if you don't try?

I have a few traits I am aiming for in these birds.

1.) Profuse, sturdy feathering- No hens that get excessive wear on their backs.
2.) Slate shanks. This is one thing I won't be too picky about.
3.) Medium size crest. While I love the Sultan's poofy headresses, it makes them vulnerable to attacks which is a no-go.
4.) 5 toes. This should be easy.
5.) Large beard and muffs.
6.) Varied colours.
7.) Feathered legs, and to some extent on the feet. Again, not as much as Sultans.
8.) Vulture hocks.
9.) Docile temperaments.
10.) Blue or green eggs, and therefore a pea comb.
11.) Disease/parasite resistance. Lice and Mycoplasma in particular.

I have two pullets I hatched out from this cross, and am pretty pleased with #1, Sunshine. I based the list of traits I wanted in these birds off her.

#1- Sunshine

#2- Jazzy
Not quite as good, but her temperament is stellar. Don't think I'll be using her, but she's earned pet status.

Sultan parent stock I have. They're new additions, so they are not related to #1 & #2 above.

Zoey

Hazel

Sultan rooster, Bubbles- Sire of #1 & #2. No longer here. Next spring I'll be expanding my sultan flock.

Pics of EE will be added as soon as I get some nice ones. Them little boogers won't stand still....

Hope y'all enjoyed, and feel free to comment or give advice.

are you planning on only using white sultans or colored as well?

Depends what I'm able to find. I don't want any more adult birds, but if I can find coloured sultans as chicks I will def use them.
