In the Brooder
Looking for help on hatching call duck eggs! A predator got to my call ducks a week ago and have left me with one drake. I ordered call duck eggs because I'm determined to get him some new lady friends. Please, someone tell me if this sounds right.... I plan on letting them set for 6-24 hours upon arrival. If air pockets look good, I will put them in incubator at 101.5 with humidity at 50% and begin Turing 3 times a day immediately. If air sacs are saddle or disturbed from shipping, I will let them incubate for 3 days before turning. When I turn I plan on spraying with water. Candle on day 7 and discard any eggs not developing. On day 23, candle and make sure they are all viable then begin lockdown. Lockdown temp will be 98 and the humidity will be bumped up to 80%. I will only assist in the hatch 24 hours after an internal Pip and no external pip. How I assist... I have no idea. So if someone has some insight on assisted hatching, that would be helpful. After hatch, leave them in the bator until dry and then move them to brooder which will be pre warmed. Please let me know if all this sounds right! Thanks for any and all help.
