Hatching Duck eggs....I messed up...UPDATE.....#1

@Miss Lydia

Thanks...Its very sad dealing with Bouncer....I was told it was caused by me and how imprinted he is to me and the Dogs....He has zero fear and thinks we are bellow him...I will never imprint as closely with another Duckling....Nit good for the Duck or the people....I never had an opportunity to put something on their legs yet...Thanks I will try that instead....

My drake was much the same as bouncer since we took him in when he hatched because his mom was wanting to kill him. He never went after the dogs though thank goodness. Other than he will sometimes pop them on the butt when they go by him.

But it did take me a while to get him to realize he couldn't attack me. he is now 6 yrs old and I still have to remind him sometimes especially this time of year when hormones are rampant but he is usually just a big sweetie.

I will see if I can train him?...I really hate the thought of him hurting Lucy again...My Friend might take him to put out on his Duck pond with other Drakes and Ducks...He might do better learning proper behaviour from other Drakes....?

Could be it's def not an over night training lesson it's on going. I was in such a panic when it started here I had never experienced this before since my other drakes had been raised by their mamas. So I got a lot of advise on BYC some said kill him others told me what to do and it did work I just had to stay at it.

So really what you think is best for you your dog and Bouncer.

Yeah....I have cried a few tears over Bouncer....I love the silly Duck...I only want him to be happy and nice...I learned that imprinting Ducks does not work with Drakes...Like people with Cockerels that they held and then the Rooster matures and attacks them...Distance is always the best...Dandy is fearful..I never allowed it to imprint to me...

Update.....:frow

I found a home for Dandelion my deformed Billed Duckling...They are taking another Duckling as its buddy...It will get to go to work with them everyday and once Winter comes be kept in heat....:wee.......:woot

It's still smaller than the new hatchlings.....
