Sick chick

age unknown 1 orphington and 1 rhode islnd. Have had for 2 years, in a coop with 6 others.No others showing anything else

Problem is : Orps very small waddle is really pale.
very nasty butt with dk green poop
very puffed up
is roosting , up and around
Did check her for mites ,which I did see al ittle red thing and it ran ..couldn't see again
Is pecking for treats outside but I don't see her really grabbing on to anything
No eggs

The rhode island almost the same way but not as bad.

I have given them 3 days ago vit/electrlytes mix in water.
They get (all chikens) 1 cup of variety of treats in am only. Sometimes other fruits /greens in small amounts.
Their regular chicken food with cal,grit and an better plumage ....mixed together.
They also do have a block of chicken treats in coop .
No signs of worms.


Treaments so far : dusted all the chicks with poultry dust. and thru out the coop. New used coop , had only since November.insulated with windows. only use reg ;light for laying . They can go out anytime except at night .
Electrolytes again.

Today I gave all of them a save a chick solution from TSC. in a gallon of water.
The orp I gave 1 cc of solution orally this am and 1 cc of applesauce.
I work during the day so I thought about giving her a Epson bath tonight . .

I have never given a chick a injection ...a little leary they have no fat breast .

I would not bathe her since she is very sick and you have just dusted her for obvious mites or lice. Can you get some droppings checked for worms and coccidiosis by the vet? Green poop is evidence that she has not been eating. I would stop treats, and only feed her chicken feed plus some plain yogurt for probiotics and some chopped egg. I would really encourage the fluids with electrolytes. Check her crop to see if it is empty, hard, soft, or puffy.

I checked last night after they roosted . She had 1/2 the amount of the normal crop.
This am she's the same . I did not give her a bath but I did wash her butt up so I could tell if green was still happening .
She went outside with rest and pecked around .
So I gave her 1 cc of water. .25 of some chicken nutrient , 1 cc of applesauce.
Left her with some yogurt and applesauce, her grain.
Shes still puffed up. Tried to feel for anything but nothing noted.

Please help, my Frizzle Rooster over a period of a short time became blind. Now overnight he is head tucking and will stand around with the top of his head tucked between his legs. He is not eating or drinking unless forced. He is unsteady on his feet. This is day two of the tucking. I can't seem to find anything in my chicken health book. Please help!

Her crop may be blocked or she could have a sluggish crop due to something else. I would offer her fluids throughout the day, and massage her crop several times to try to help the food onward. Grasses can clog the crop and that can pass on clogging the gizzard. Does she have access to chicken grit to help digest foods other than chicken feed? Getting a sample of her droppings checked by a vet for diseases or parasites might help to save some time with guesswork. Enteritis, cocci, or worms could be possible. Update:

It's getting cold in Michigan again after a warm spell.
So I brought her inside to feed her more often and thought it would be easier for her .
Her trying to stay warm and sick wasn't working, even tho her coop is insulated.

She seem to be doing better now.
I'm syringe feeding her applesauce,yogurt and a drop of nutrition, plus water with probiotics, electrolytes and vitamins.
Regular grain.
Today she been pecking at her food and some meal worms and more alert ,so i'm hoping some TLC has taken care of the problem.
Not quite out of the woods yet but she's getting there.
Now the next step would be to acclimate her back to the cold and her friends (eventually).
I hate putting new chicks together . God, why are they so mean ! LOL
Thinking about getting some new ones and after isolation put them all together so its just not her fighting.

update:

Shes alert, pecks at her grain but doesn't seem to be getting anything. I let her go a day w/o syringe feeding and gave her grain a few meal worms and water..
Later at end of day....If I get out a leaf of kale or a small piece of bread, she acts like shes starving. I cant feel anything in her crop.
When I try to syringe now she fights. I did open up some turkey baby food and she did peck at that.

I don't know what to do , this has been going on for over a week. Her stool was turning normal looking, but now today its green again .

Any ideas?

Can you give her some chopped scrambled egg, and a small bowl of feed with water added to make it like thin oatmeal. Is she having problems seeing?

Welcome to BYC. I'm so sorry that no one answered your post. Starting your own thread is the best way to get more advice, and to not get confused with the person who started this thread. This sounds like wry neck, which is a neurological symptom of a head injury, vitamin E deficiency, and in some diseases such as Mareks. Mareks can also cause blindness. Can you describe the eye color and pupil shape? Give him some vitamin E, which can be found in poultry vitamins or Polyvisol without iron baby vitamins 2-3 ml daily. Give some chopped egg for selenium which helps the vitamin E absorbsion. Keep him quiet and separate him unless he gets upset with that. How old is he?

Have tried an scrambled egg ..she wont eat it .Have tried warm water and her grain to make a grua and syringe fed it. May be tomorrow I will try it in a bowl.
