~«Survival By War»~ (Warrior cat rp)

"It better not decide to live again! It might pinch my muzzle," Brokenwing mewed, trotting back to their spot in the sun. "And yeah, fish is good, but crab is just delicious. Well, not when it's crawling away, but you know what I mean."

~

"Sure, totally counts." Ravenpaw purred in amusement, spraying up sand as she spun around to trot after Canopypaw. "I don't understand how WaterfallClan cats enjoy getting wet," she stared down at the river, curling her lip. "Even getting my paws wet is awful, imagine swimming."

Lostpaw followed her, smiling at her words as he watched the sun shine through the cave entrance, the rays through the waterfall making the usual pretty dancing patterns on the cave floor. He laid down in their spot, enjoying the warmth and the company. "Yeah, I get what you're saying but do you want to know what's really good, water vole. They're not caught as much as the fish and crabs but they have a lot more flavor." He says as he ripped off a leg from the crab knowing his choice of water vole was a stranger one for a Waterfallclan cat to acquire.

"I can't really imagine swimming, don't think I'd be good." Canopypaw jokingly aimed at herself because of her bad paw. She jumped up onto the tree bridge and flicked her tail for Ravenpaw to follow her up. She glanced at the river rushing under her and noticed some fish following down it. "Also think of all the slimy fish they have to eat. I simply cannot live without squirrels." She stated firmly as she watched the fish pass by before she continued over the tree to the other side which held much more warm black pebbles to lounge on.

Unlike Flamepaw, Ivypaw's entire body became rigid as she shifted to face Rainstar. "I could've done better, ma'am," she replied smoothly, using calculated words that would be taken the wrong way by her sadistic leader. I 'could've done better' by having any mentor but a monster like you, for starters. "And I regret that."
"There is always a next time, dear," Rainstar meowed, her gaze not leaving Doveheart's pelt. "And there will be a next time. A next time for you, Ivypaw, to show how loyal you truly are, and for you...Flamepaw," she spat his name with blatant disgust, claws curling into Doveheart's fur, "too also show your exceeding loyalty, and do what is right." She leaned closer, lip curled up slightly, before pulling away suddenly, as if regaining her composure. "Isn't that right, dear's?"
Flamepaw gritted his teeth, watching her through slightly narrowed eyes. "Yes, ma'am."

"Well, we're gonna make it work out," Hazelpaw insisted passionately. "Look at us. Look how far we've come." Her waving tail flagged forward to gesture at the distant horizon. "Not to shine my own whiskers, but that took some pretty advanced apprentices." She fondly touched a paw to the cooling hide of her rabbit. "And because of our journey, we already have so much more experience with tactics and encounters that our Clanmates have never been exposed to." Her gleaming eyes returned to his. "Surely sneaking out of camp unnoticed a couple times a moon isn't going to be impossible."
"You're right. We've come too far together, and learned too much just to throw that away. It wouldn't...it wouldn't be right just to abandon that." Crowpaw meowed, looking at her rabbit, before meeting her eyes again. "It shouldn't be all that hard. No." He grinned, lifting his head to look over the moorland and out past the horizon, before dropping his gaze back to her. "They can't stop us from being friends. It's not hurting anybody or anything, so they can just forget the stupid rules that StarClan made up and deal with it."

Flamepaw looked away, unable to look anymore. It was almost to much to bear.
"The Tribe cat that killed such a sweet she-cat truly is an evil incarnate." Flamepaw's eyes snapped open as he looked in front of him. Rainstar stood there, her eyes filled with such sympathy, for a moment he almost believed it. "Doveheart was a good cat. Horribly weak, but had a good heart." Claws still stained with the blood of countless victims caressed the cold pelt of Doveheart, her eyes trained on the little cat.
Flamepaw held his tongue, refusing to say a word, though his entire body trembled with hardly restrained fury. What're the chances I'll make it out alive if I say something?
"I heard you both did well in the battle," Rainstar, with what seemed like honest curiosity, looked up at Flamepaw, before her eyes flickered to Ivypaw. "Especially you, Ivypaw."

Unlike Flamepaw, Ivypaw's entire body became rigid as she shifted to face Rainstar. Leopardmoon was doing her best to bark orders around the tired clan, her voice was starting to go and her shoulders were starting to become slumped as she felt the pain and tiredness creep through her once sleek but now ragged pelt. It was all a blur, she would send a cat Smoketail's way only to turn around and have to give a comforting lie to a griefing cat and then the cycle would repeat. She was about to finally slink off to a nest to collapse for at least a moment until her eyes caught Rainstar standing with Ivypaw and Flamepaw and the fallen Doveheart. She cursed under her breath as she stormed over, hiding her inside fury well as she slid in to hopefully get Rainstar away from them. "Rainstar, the clan is very stressed. Riverpool has come up to me twice asking about Doveheart's burial, I can't get Needlepaw away from Dogfang's body and Smoketail and Frostpaw is swamped with injured cats. Could you please maybe gather the clan, it's too frantic right now and we're all acting like spooked mice." She stated, glancing around at all the darting and shuffling cats around them with worry.

"Oh, water vole is really good, too!" Brokenwing cracked off a leg, snapping it open with her teeth to reach the meat inside. "The clan doesn't catch it as much as other stuff, but it's really good when they do."

~

"Yuck! I'd take a delicious robin or squirrel over a slimy fish any day, thank you very much!" Ravenpaw meowed, leaping onto the tree bridge, crossing it quickly before landing on the other side. She bounded up to Canopypaw, sun beating down on their pelts and the stones. "We made it!"

Rainstar looked up quickly as her deputy approached, ears flicking. Without any word, she padded away, leaping onto the Highstone, gazing down at her clan. "PineClan!" She snarled with such force that the clan fell completely silent. "Stop acting like scared kits, and gather yourselves!" She spat her words, lashing her tail. "I know we lost tonight's battle, I know we lost warriors, but that does not mean we shouldn't stay strong!" She paced the length of the Highstones, tail lashing and eyes glinting in the still youthful sunlight.
"We are PineClan, the strongest clan around the Fourtrees, I will not let this clan fall apart because of a silly loss. Those who lost family or friends, bury your dead. We have no time to mourn those too weak to defend themselves. This clan is for the strong and the strong only. Understood?"

Flamepaw stared at Rainstar in horror, glancing at Leopardmoon pleadingly. This is no way to lead a clan!

"Come on," Ivypaw murmured, keeping her seething glare low. Her whole pelt was spiking hot with rage at her mentor's callous announcement, and she knew they both had to get out of camp before one of them did something rash. "We'll take Doveheart to a special place that she deserves. Should I get Frostpaw?"

"Then it's so on," Hazelpaw concluded contentedly, catching his contagious grin. She leaned up to give his closest ear an impulsive lick. "Once those two sleepysnouts get up, we'll put our heads together to think of a perfect meeting place."

"I can't just stand here while she says this!" Flamepaw's claws unsheathed, curling deep into the earth. How could he stand by and listen to Rainstar speak like that, insulting his sister and Dogfang, calling them weak and unable to defend themselves? They were only apprentices!
He looked at Ivypaw, before glancing behind him at Doveheart. And he knew he couldn't just leave her there. She deserved to be at rest before he did something rash.
"Okay," he rasped. "Yes, go get Frostpaw."

Leopardmoon's eyes were trained on Rainstar, her fur bristled at the leader's words. Her focus and rage was all on Rainstar and for a moment she forgot about everything around her. Luckily Ivypaw and Flamepaw's planning with Doveheart snapped her out of it. Apprentices shouldn't be handling such things and it only made her want to go up there and scratch Rainstar's eyes out more but she took a breath to regain herself. "I'll lend my paws where it's needed, I'll go fetch Riverpool and Goursefur too and see what I can do with Needlepaw." She finally spoke with a tired sigh as she looked down at Doveheart's body, this was the longest day of her life.
