~Fear suddenly sunk its claws into Mudskipper's heart as she trailed in after River. Bracken is Alpha's mate, for Sirius's sake!!! She settled down into a sit within the shadowed Leaders' Den, her fur on edge. She could have you banished for voicing a suspicion of her mate. "Alpha," she began slowly, her tail still and stiffened, "have you any suspicion on who could've been the culprit for Beta's attempted assassination?" But I know.~
River straightened. "Do you have an accusation?", she said quietly, dread slowly filling her up. "Remember whatever you say will be confidential, between you and me, no one else will know go on." ~Mudskipper looked at her paws, her courage threatening to drain right out of her heart. "Alpha...." She trailed off, miserably scoring a claw in the dirt. With an intake of resolved breath, she straightened up, but didn't meet River in the eye. "I think Bracken did it."

"I saw him meeting with two coyotes on the border today."~ River looked at Mudskipper. "That may be a valid accusation." She forced her fur to lie flat. "He has been jealous of Stream's rank for a long time. Bring him into my den, I would like to discus this with both of you." (

~Mudskipper shrank back against the den wall, then pulled away in annoyance at her terror of Bracken. "Thank you, Alpha," she murmured with relieved gratitude, her paws already working into the ground and ready to run. "I'll go fetch him right now." She whirled on her paws and lunged into a thrumming sprint for the border, ignoring the fear of Bracken that pulsed through her veins.~ Bracken sat beside the border, flicking his tail across the pebbles. He looked up in alarm as he heard Mudskipper clambering through the bushes he tensed. "Who's there?" ~Mudskipper forged her way through the brambles and was tempted to bolt in the opposite direction as Bracken came into view. She stiffened her legs and strode forward with feigned confidence. "Alpha wants to see you," she woofed, completely calm and unperturbed, choosing to ignore the blatant coyote scent that lingered everywhere.~
~
"Alpha!" Bracken seemed surprised for a seconed. "Very well", he leaped over a fallen tree and followed Mudskipper throufgh the forest.

(Canyon Pack)~ Inestimable fear rose in Mudskipper's heart as the continued conversation proved her suspicions. Bracken really did try to murder Stream. Without giving any thought to the coyotes or the remainder of Bracken's malevolent scheme, Mudskipper silently whirled on her heels and bolted off for Canyon Pack camp. Her heart thrummed with the speed of urgency and she spun into camp, sand flying up from behind her heels as she skidded nearly into the Leader's Den. "Alpha!" she hissed with blatant importance. "I have something for you, and you alone, to hear."~

River straightened. "Very well Mudskipper. Come in."

~Mudskipper shrank back against the den wall, then pulled away in annoyance at her terror of Bracken. "Thank you, Alpha," she murmured with relieved gratitude, her paws already working into the ground and ready to run. "I'll go fetch him right now." She whirled on her paws and lunged into a thrumming sprint for the border, ignoring the fear of Bracken that pulsed through her veins.~
Bracken sat beside the border, flicking his tail across the pebbles. He looked up in alarm as he heard Mudskipper clambering through the bushes he tensed. "Who's there?"
~Mudskipper forged her way through the brambles and was tempted to bolt in the opposite direction as Bracken came into view.

~Mudskipper eyed him warily for a moment, then trailed after him through the woodlands. Oh, little does he know... She padded up to River's den in his wake, every hair on her pelt trembling with apprehension. "Alpha. We're back."~
"Come with me, you two." Shebarked solemly flicking her tail towards her den.
~Mudskipper slunk into the Leader's Den, mentally rehearsing every word of her accusation. Her pelt pricked uncomfortably as Bracken's stare bored into her from across the den. Does he somehow know that I know?!?!~
"Bracken", River began, It wouldn't be easy telling her mate she trusted Mudskipper over her own mate, but for the sake of the pack she would have to. "Mudskipper has made an accusation." She fought back choking in grief. "She has told me that you have been seeing some Rip-Pack cyotes. I am afraid she may be right."

~

Bracken fought back fury. "How dare she accuse me of that!?", he roared. "I have done nothing of the sort! If you belive that River you're a fool."

~

"It's Alpha to you!", River thundered.
~Mudskipper pressed herself against the wall in fear, then forced herself to stop cowering. This is crazy. I've started a feud between my Alpha and her mate- and one of them could end up dead. "Bracken," she growled slowly, dangerously, hoping desperately that River wouldn't consider this undermining, "I have eyes and a nose. I tracked you down today and saw you with my own two eyes." Mudskipper nearly flinched at her own audacity that seemed to be fueled at rage at Bracken's betrayal. "Their scent is even on your fur."~
"Bracken, I never want to see you again, leave the territory! If I find you in Canyon Pack territory ever again I will kill you!" River snarled.
~
Bracken glared at her. He stalked out of the den whispering to Mudskipper as he left; "This isn't over, you will see me again Mudskipper."
"And from now on my name is Darkblood!"
~Though a current of forebodence rippled through her pelt, Mudskipper's hackles rose and she glared after him defiantly. "I hope I haven't seen the last of him," she growled, unusually dark. "For I'm really anticipating my claws sinking into your pelt." She turned to Alpha, suddenly feeling very small. A long breath escaped her. "Thank you, Alpha. For believing me."~
~Stream eyed Bracken warily as he stormed out of camp, muttering maniacal vows, malevolence radiating off of him as obvious as he had fur. She curiously trod over to the Leader's Den and popped her head inside cautiously. "Alpha, why does Bracken look about ready to kill somedog?"~

"Bracken is no longer a member of Canyon pack." she dipped her head in acknowledgement towards Stream, "As for you Mudskipper, You won't have seen the last of him."
