We are new to having chickens, and they live in a home with chicken run in our backyard.
Our grandson gave us 5 large hens last summer: one all black, one aracauna, one barred rock, one white "something" & a brown "something." Later the same grandson brought a little mille fleur bantam (Little Bit). The big ones persecuted her, so we went to a Mexican family & they gave us 2 smallish, wild, streamlined hens, who are great fliers, to be companions to Little Bit. I haven't identified their breed, but they came from a big flock that all looked & acted alike. Now, our little flock has settled down and is quite compatible and laying well; but someone is occasionally laying a tiny egg, a little bigger than a robin's egg. Does anyone else get eggs that small? Little Bit lays some that are bigger than that. Maybe she's laying 2 different sizes.(Obviously, someone is! I'm not really concerned; I just didn't know what else to name the "New Member Thread.")
I found BackYardChicken when I googled "are potato peels good for chickens?" I liked what I found on your web site so joined BYC. I expect to learn a lot by browsing & searching it.
