Hi so I live in the Boise Idaho area and I was wondering do you need any special permits or anything like that to raise coturnix quail here in Boise Idaho?

You can also inquire at your city or town hall. Better to know first than getting a raid from animal control.
Are you in the "Boise area" or inside the Boise city limits?

Thank you everyone so much and to you question OI Grey Mare I do live in Boise city limits
So, I got curious and just had to go a-googling.....ironically, there is NO mention of quail anywhere in the ordinances for animals/animal control, however, the following ARE specifically listed in the "prohibited animals" regulations under "birds" ...... thank you for a good giggle because I have to figure to be that specific it means someone, sometime has TRIED it....the penguins and flamingos are what got me.
