Please help! I need to ID pullets vs roos. I am getting conflicting advise. My concern is crowing as I am not even allowed to have chickens. I am trying to keep them on the down-low. Advise appreciated!

Cockerel. Note the shiny pointed cock feathers compared to the bird below. Also note the large red comb.

Pullet. Note the small comb.

Pullet

I think this one is a cockerel, but it would help if I could see the comb.

Can you see the differences between the pullets and the cockerels? Note how the pullets all have small pink combs, and the cockerels have large red combs.

Thanks you so much for your feedback. I am so sad that my bantam is a cockerel! 3 out of 7 is not a good ratio when they were all supposed to be pullets!

Anyone else want to comment?

All feedback is appreciated. I have to find homes for my cockerels. I can't keep them; I wish I could!

Confirmation! My husband was outside this morning and all 3 suspected cockerels were crowing! The loudest is our bantam.

Anyone in South West or South Austin interested in sweet cockerels? I would love a farm where they can have their own ladies and live out their lives and not be in a stew pot. They have to go today. I can't have cockerels. I run the risk of loosing all of my chickens if my neighbors get upset.

I can drive to meet you or deliver if you don't live nearby.

If any of them turn out to be roosters, you could get something called a No Crow Collar instead of getting rid of them. It is about $15. When a Rooster crows, his neck expands a lot. The No Crow Collar keeps him from expanding his neck enough to crow. It doesn't stop them from breathing normally, it just stops them from crowing very loudly. I hope this helps. :)
