Picked up a bunch of pallets to make coop out of. These are large 10' x 4.3' pallets. Looks like I'll have around a 63sf floor plan utilizing 9'x7', should be large enough for 16 to 20 birds? Planning on having 4 windows for natural lighting, plus separate ventilation doors. Not pretty nor anywhere near completion, but here's a photo from...now
More to come, see ya soon

Are you housing large fowl or bantam birds? Are you planning to have feed/water stations inside the coop? What climate do you live in?

Nice looking start.
But 63 sq ft. for large birds is closer to 15 max . the rule is 4sq ft per bird coop 10 sq ft run.

those numbers are posted all over this site . Keep us updated with the build.

I have a 9x5 co-op and it holds 10 hens comfortably.
This is mainly because they all want to be on the high roost at night. we usually free range but have a covered enclosed 120 as foot run but even that gets crowded when all 10 hens are shut in.

And my girls are only in the coop to visit the nest boxes or sleep. If you live in a co!d climate where your hens might be indoors all day they will need extra floor space.

At 45 sq ft you are close to your max cap. At least what I consider max. My hen free range all day right now and I shot for at least 4 sq ft in the coop and run will be 10sq ft per bird. We acutally I'm not at max yet. 163sq ft coop and soon to be 400sq ft run. In my mind this will support 40 birds. but I''m at 24 right now.

Thanks Scott
I have what should grow to be 8 large birds (4-CW & 4-RIR) then 8 smaller rocks, Columbian&cornish,
Providing they all mature.

ok so if I read right your looking for sq ft for like 12 large birds? being the 8 are batams. not sure if that right but looks like you have done some research
and will be good to go on that footprint. I'm not that knowledgeable on all the breeds yet:)

I look forward to more pictures. I like watching the pallet one come together. I have worked with some crap 2x4 #2 before but not sure I could use pallets? They, in the shape the come in around here, might just cause my brain to lock up and melt trying to square and pump them all together.
