This is my first time trying to incubate eggs. I've got 8 white Silkie and 6 Ameraucana eggs in the incubator and I'm using a Magicfly Automatic. I've got a thermometer/hydrometer and have been keeping temp in the 37 - 38.5 C range (this thing just isn't that precise) and humidity between 45 - 65 percent. I've been manually turning the eggs a couple of times a day because they don't all fit int eh turning tray. I have some ideas about which eggs aren't developing but, would like some experienced input on the photos. Some of them are basically dark shadows with only a couple of spots that I can see anything when candling and what I can see is entirely clear. Anyway, here are the photos. Which ones are good? All but 1 have numbers on them, it would be #1. 5 and 6 didn't come out, I'll have to retake those photos later. I think 1, 5, 8 and 13 are no good. I don't know on 14 and think the rest are developing but I'm a newbie so I could be way wrong.

First one looks like a quitter, #2 can't tell, not dark enough, #5 & 8 look like quitters, 13 looks clear and 14 has some funky bikini shaped air cell. If you candle down into the egg from the fat round end, the air cell end, it is easier to see things in the right perspective. I noticed some of these were candled from the bottom. Are these shipped eggs? Usually I'd say that high humidity would scare me, but the couple I can see air cells in actually look large.

Yes, they were shipped. There have been a few times where humidity has dropped pretty low, 30% or so, during the day and I've added water. I pulled 1, 5 and 8 out and took pictures in a darker setting. I originally candled them from wherever I could see the most detail. In a few of these, I can see things moving around which IS WAY COOL! I'm honestly just amazed at the miracle that is an egg.

They go 3,4,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,2,14.

How big is egg 14? It almost looks like a double yolker with the two air cells. I could be wrong though.

I'd say around Large, maybe Extra Large. It's one of the Ameraucana eggs and is about the same size as the rest of them.

Oh okay maybe I'm wrong. It looks like you will have quite a few chicks hatch!
Good luck!

Shipped eggs often result in saddle shaped air cells because of damage through shipping. That one is one of the more funky ones I've seen though. I run 30% humidity for my standards. Most of the air cells from what I can see don't look too bad size wise, but shipping will really screw with the air cells. It looks like there's some good development there. Hope you have a decent hatch.
