Reviving stressed older chick after shipping

I agree, don't separate her. Chicks need to be with their peers for support and the competition for food stimulates a weak chick to want to eat.

Give them all a treat of scrambled eggs, or crumpled tofu. Those are easy to digest and are perfect foods for chicks.

The best thing going forward, since you've taken emergency measures, is to make a "weak tea" with their drinking water and a few drops of Nutri-drench. They all can drink it with no problem.

Since the breeder is certified NPIP, I would hold off on the Corid since it blocks B vitamins that could be helpful to this recovering chick.

Never prayed over a chick before until we had to help one hatch that couldn't pip and two days late. (Paid a lot for the eggs). After 8 long tedious hours she came into the world. She's doing fine. 3 weeks old now.

Then we prayed for these ones that were in transport. God does care about the birds.

Our little stressed chick is eating and drinking. Still does a lot is standing and sleeping. Not very active.
Do you think because she's older -- about 10 weeks. It might have stressed her more? The others are from 2 to 8 weeks.

I'm going to leave her with her buds. They're nothing bothering her except the babies like to run under her and hide from me. Lol.

I made a weak tea of nuttidrench for all of them. Can't hurt.

Holding up on the corid for now.
You guys give me so much hope.

If your chick has made it this far, she's probably going to recover. You're doing everything you can.

Being shipped is hard on chicks no matter the age. They get shook and bumped and there are frightening noises, and temperature fluctuations, and then they arrive and it's nothing like they were used to. Change is as hard on an older chick as being chilled or over-heated is on babies. But chicks are tougher than we imagine. In a few days you will never know you had one you were worried about.

Well, I have prayed for a lot of chicks and many didn't make it. Yes, I believe God does care about the birds. But I also believe that everything dies and can't blame him when it happens.

Have you checked out this thread? Great place to rally around other believers. Lot's of truth, sharing, and learning going on... Just beware you might experience tears of sadness and joy!

I agree eggsighted4life. Everything happens for a reason and everything dies eventually. But God does tell us to ask for things and this time I asked for the life of a chick. This one lived. Some die.
She's doing very well this morning. She was actually spreading her wings and chasing some smaller ones.
Since we didn't raise them from hatchlings, they don't know us and run and hide. The ones we hatched run to us instead of running from us. What a difference!
Thanks again for everyone's concerns and words of wisdom. It gave us confidence.

Yes, I was just noticing the difference between home hatched chicks verses shipped chicks and shipped feed store chicks... it is definitely a world of difference even at that very young age. Makes hatching at home even that much more fun!

But most all of mine have friendly'd up after they start laying and simmer down a bit from being a teen.
