My wife and older daughter convinced each other that we should get some chicks at our younger daughter's Spring Fling at school. Since I keep ending up here looking for answers to questions we have, I figured I should say hi, and drop a few picks of the chicks. The brown, gray, and black ones are ours. A friend lent us the feeder and heat lamp, and asked if we would foster some for them, since their chickens were starting to slow down on egg laying. So the six little yellow chicks are fosters. This is our first adventure with chicks.

It's fun to watch them grow. Nothing cuter than a baby chick! Of course it's even more fun when they grow into adult birds but the baby chick stage is priceless.

Lots of us lurked before joining. Ha! Enjoy your new babies and if you have any questions about them, feel free to ask.

Welcome to our roost! :)

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! What lovely pics you have posted of the chicks :clap They sure do look to be enjoying themselves!
That's so very kind of you to foster some for your friends, more the merrier I always say :D

Wishing you the very best of luck with your chicks in the future. Enjoy your time here on BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Hello from California.

You are in for a treat. Raising baby chicks has been great fun for me so far. I'm pretty new here also. You and I both joined BYC for the same reason. I kept ending up here when I was doing research, so I joined up.

BYC is a wealth of knowledge and everyone has been very nice to me here. No matter how dumb you may "think" a question is going to be, no one here is going to make you feel dumb for asking it.

Those are some cute baby chicks. Do you know the breeds?

I don't know the breeds. I was hoping to get help identifying them as they get older. The gentleman who sold them to us told us the breed on two of them, but I can't remember what he said. It was a bit of a rushed decision to get them, and to figure out how to get them home, etc.

It looks like everyone is doing well, the chicks and your family all look like they're having fun.

Thanks for joining us!

Welcome and Congratulations!

Cuteness overload!

When they are a bit older you can post some pictures on the Breed & Gender Forum; the folks on there should be able to tell you what you have: http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Oh My, are all those foster chickens - or your own?? Looks like you are doing a great job with them and kids sure help socialize them.
