Are australorps broody? I have one that doesn't lay eggs yet and wondering if it will be broody when its older. We have some adult hens that are.

Some are, some aren't. I haven't personally had any hatchery ones go broody, only those obtained from a breeder.

I had always read that they can tend to go broody, but mine haven't. But, I got mine from a feed store so they came from a hatchery and certainly aren't SOP Australorps.

My Australorp "Oreo" did and plucked her breast feathers and completely lost her mind! She attacked me like a rooster. She stopped laying for about a week but is now back to laying. Mega eggs. 78.9 gram eggs two in a row!!!! But still plucking her feathers and acting like a rooster. And she picks in my light brahma constantly
