Coccidiosis in one...does everyone need treatment? Please help.

Got a chicken that has these symptoms, can't move on her own, won't eat. Can't find and mites. Sprayed with permethrin. Feeding her with Vitamins and electrolytes with Lacto Bacillus. Feeding her with a dropper. Not taking it very well. Any help would be appreciated. Could not find any Ivomec. Does that come from a vet?

Welcome To BYC

Can you take her to a vet?
How old is your chicken?
What type of food/treats do you feed?
What does her poop look like?
Any other symptoms - coughing, sneezing, runny eyes/nose?

You mention that she can't move on her own - is she paralyzed, lethargic, laying down funny (??) Any photos or video?

If you found no mites/lice why treat with Permethrin?

Also what is your intentions with Ivomec? Are you wanting to treat again for lice/mites, worms, etc.?

Do the best you can to keep her hydrated. If you have a vet that can see her and perform a fecal test for worms, cocci or bacterial infection that would be a good idea.

Feed is cracked corn and layena mash, they free range almost every day. 4 years old, raised from a chick. She looks lethargic, poop looks runny. I can take her to a vet. The comb has become dry with black spots, read where sometimes you can't see mites but they are there. Eyes look good. Has no strength to get up.

Photos may be helpful. Black spots on the comb could be Fowl Pox or pecking wounds, but hard to tell without seeing it.

Do the best you can to keep her hydrated, hopefully the vet will be able to give you some answers.

I had never heard of Coccidiosis until half my flock died. I went into the farm supply store and a lady told me that is what they had based on the treatment. She said it is soil born, or the germ gets into the soil in the area from the infected bird, and it will spread, and next time have them vaccinated. She also told me to call Auburn Department of Poultry Science at 334-844-2881 for questions, that she had lost her ENTIRE flock of teenage chickens to Coccidiosis and this poultry science department was very helpful. It is recommended you have your chickens vaccinated. Do not give up and get frustrated.
Some home remedies I have read about include adding 1 teaspoon or was it tablespoon??? of apple cider vinegar to each gallon of drinking water to get rid of it, I have also read to mix up one teaspoon of soil from the area your chickens are going to go live into each feeder full of baby chick crumbles. This is supposed to gradually build up the chicks immunity naturally to the germs in the area they will live. However, seems to me, if the illness is soil born it could possible give it to the baby chicks. I don't know. Hope all that helped in some way. Do not give up. Other people do it, you can too, you just have to stick with it. Don't get down about it.
