Help! Should I assist?

The First egg that pipped has been working very hard to unzip but it's looking really dry, my bator temp is stable and the humidity goes between 70-80% higher end when one hatches, it's been unzipping for 7 hours, it's still breathing but not doing much. I've had two go from zero to out in this time. How much longer should I give it or should I help now?

If it's taken that long, then yes, it needs a hand. Once they start zipping they shouldn't stop and they should be out within an hour. So you can go ahead and finish the zip for it.
 
I doubt it. I know there's a lot of warnings out there about opening the incubator during hatch, but I and many others do it all the time with no problems. As long as you're in and out quick and the humidity goes back up, there won't be any problems.
 
I helped it hatch and stuck it back in the incubator, it's got a bit of goop on it maybe the yolk? It's down was pretty dry around the zip line I hope it makes it, I guess only time will tell
 
You did good and it will be ok. I would think 7 hours is a long time for a baby chicken to take to hatch but I do not really know. Mama hens help them hatch by pecking the egg shell if they need help but they know and we don't. If it dies well it was struggling anyway. they say after they hatch they are exhausted and take about 24 hours to get it together.
 
Yes it did look like snot, I figured it was going to die if I didn't help so if it still dies I know I did everything I could
