When I get a roll of hay for my horses, I cut the netting off and spread it along the ground outside of my chicken pen. I have had 4 snakes in the past 2 years get caught up in the netting that were trying to get in the pen. Snakes either get tangled up in the netting or if they are smart enough, they realize that the netting is a trap. Whatever.. it works.. plus the netting keeps out other ground crawling, digging critters also.
