Well, semi-good news. I set seven eggs from his pen this past Saturday. Just candled them, ONE of the seven was developing. I'll take that as an improvement. We will see if this weekend's set does even better.
I would just like to thank Tim for the eggs I received today. They were clean, fresh, clearly marked and exceedingly well packed. All arrived safely. I am looking forward to the chicks from these exceptional birds.
Ok, was just speaking to a brahma expert here in Ireland and she has convinced me to stay with the gold roo and blue/grey hens.. Apparently every now and then you get truly ammzing hens and always stunning cockerels from this cross. He's a massive, fabulous bird, truly giant. The hens are a little on the small side for my liking, but they'll improve in their daughters. Now, just to decide when to incubate. I might just have to get the incubator on next month to hatch me some nice brahmas. As soon as the colouring starts showing I'll post up pics. I could just keep my fingers crossed for a nice broody...!
I only have names for 2. Three are supposed to be pullets one was free. I don't know what it is. I got so many free chicks because we live close(about 20 minutes) from Mt healthy and we were going to get them last wednesday so we called and they said they didn't have anymore so they said come on sunday. My mom asked like three times to make sure and they said we didn't need to make an order and that they would have plenty. Of course we drove all the way over and they didn't have any. So they payed for shipping and they gave us some free chicks.(we payed for 3 buff Brahma pullets and 3 Black Giant pullets) we got 5 black giants, 4 buff brahmas, 3 buff orpingtons(roosters) and 2 rhode island reds(roosters)

hmmm, really? It's in the picture. It's the exact same color and everything(same color legs, fluff etc etc) it just doesn't have feathered legs. I assumed it was because it was a hatchery bird. You can see it in the pictures.
Top picture it's the one in the front on the left
Bottom picture it's in the front on the right.
