I have 2 female ducks and a male living in the coop with 21 chickens. They have been together for over a year. The rooster is the boss of the ducks so I tend to feed them separate and stand between the rooster and the ducks until they are well fed. Our winters are usually at or below zero for quite some time in the winter. We use a heated hose to fill the many buckets around the yard during the day. They have plenty of time to preen themselves before it freezes. There is also a trough of water with a heater inside that they can access all day. Some days it needs to be broke up with an axe, but we make due. The Chickens do roost over the top of them...and I am going to install a removable board just above the ducks sleeping area to prevent the rain of poop as they sleep.
