Hen vomiting now, help please?

OK, her crop is empty again this morning. I wonder if it's the extra acv and yogurt or that I put her back on sulmet????

I bought some Gentian Violet yesterday and coated her mouth and squirted it into her crop, which was easier than I thought it would be BTW. Now she is all purple. I ma hoping thi swill finish off killing whatever she has going on. Today is the last day that she can be on sulmet so maybe if I do this every morning for a few days she will be good as new????

Hi Karri-
Sorry not to repsond the other day; we were out of town. It's hard to say how long Penelope was sick; we'd adopted her a week or so earlier and so we were just sort of getting to know her when we realized her crop was impacted. She may have had it for a really long time. However, once we got the crop emptied, and got through the ONE day of the gassy/sour crop symptoms, it was maybe 5-7 days before she seemed all better, and another several before I felt she was gaining her weight back and "out of the woods".
I sure hope you girl gets better! It really sounds like you are doing everything you can. I know it is hard and tedious! is the thrush in her mouth diminishing? Seems like when that goes away you'll have an idication that her gut is getting back to normal, too, no?
Good luck!

Oh, I'm sorry she had a sort of relapse. How is her energy level?

As to the watery poo, it may just be because her diet is so atypical right now. Check the poo-ology page and see if you can tell if it's diarrhea or just her getting rid of excess water. I wish I knew what to tell you. Is the course for Sulmet 4 days? It does sound as if she reacted to being taken off of the antibiotics, but if four days was the whole course, then it's certainly what I would have done, too.

The only thing I can think is that if it's being administered in drinking water and she's not drinking very much out of her waterer, it may be that she didn't get quite the dose she needed during the four days.

THanks y'all. I gave her gentian violet for two days ina row and now I think she's all good. I might giv eit to her one more time just in case but let m etell you GENTIAN VIOLET is awesome for candida! I had forgotten about it until I read it somewhere and remembered that I gave it to my son when he got thrush as a baby. The morning after I gave it to her the first time, her crop was completely empty. There was no gassiness or anything squishy at all!!!! I am even maybe going to put her out in a day or two if she keeps getting better! Thanks a bunch, I'll let you know:)

OK guys, guess what????? Gentian Violet really works! You just have to be careful how much you give becuase it has 10% alcahol in it. But she is healed!!!!!! She was put on regular grain and has processed it completely without ANY enlargement of her crop?!?!?!?!?!?!? I am so happy! I put her back out with everyone and she is so happy:)
THanks so much for all of your help and encouragement. I hope I never have to go through thi sagain. I am going to keep giving all of the chickens acv in water alternated with vitamins in the water and also the mixture everyday to every other day. Hopefully that will keep all of the boogers away!
