I love that the climate on this Forum shows respect for ALL types of chicken OWNERS, from those that keep them as pets, kinda like the Floridian, "Mr. Clucky", to those who butcher meat birds for profit.
WE A L L here want to keep our right to keep our chickens.

I would ask that those who do NOT own guns, understand that gun owners are on the "PC Attack" list now. Though there will always be some Americans who abuse their gun owning privileges, we have to go through a Criminal check and a waiting period for each and every firearm we purchase. (Felons would be turned down, so they don't bother to register---they just find a supplier on the black market. )

So, PLEASE, understand that we legitimally fear the loss of our 2nd ammendment right to "bear arms", that is, to legally own a gun. This right was given to us by the founders of this country in order to protect ourselves from, primarily, a tyranical government, but also, from any person or animal intent on harming us or killing us, or our property.

I promise to continue to respect your right to NOT own a gun, as well. Thanks for reading this.

Tell me about it, I'm in the process of applying for my pistol permit; what a joke! But, I'm going to persevere because I feel it is my right to do so. I fully respect your right to not own a gun, all I ask is that you respect my right to own one. Simple as that-or it should be!

As long as there are people that feel that government should be everything to everybody and that we all need to be protected from ourselves, there will be anti-gun people. I for one fully intend to exercise my constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms.

One of the gun stores near our place sells window decals that read "This house is proudly gun-free. Please don't steal too much of our stuff!" ... for sale at the checkout counter.

They also have a bumper sticker that reads "Driver carries only $20" ... in big print ... undeneath, in smaller type it reads "worth of ammunition"

I think this is in the wrong section...but...

I was raised in a liberal house. My parents fear guns and think that no one needs a gun for any reason - that's why we have police to protect us.

That being said, I am now dating and want to marry a man who hunts and owns quite a few guns. He has shown me that, for the most part, gun owners are fairly responsible and don't own guns just to shoot people with.

I think what gun owners need to realize is that when you say 'you have a right to a gun and I own it to protect myself', you sound like a redneck who wants to shoot things for no reason (no offense intended). This is true in some ways (because I love skeet shooting and there's really no point to it...well, maybe one day when my man takes me hunting, so this *could* be considered practice

) - many people own guns for pleasure- packing their own ammo, calibrating their own guns, etc.

What I'm trying to say is...most people are afraid of guns because we've lost sight of their use and - unless your parents owned one - we have never been taught how to safely be around firearms. Since we're afraid of them, we want to get rid of them...of course, this would only get them out of the hands of people who LEGALLY want to own them, which is the problem.

It's a tough line to walk.

I had thought to post this in "Hobbies", perhaps, but I read an awful lot of posts regarding guns in THIS section, so I thought it begged for comments.
