Silkie Air Pocket problem...

Ok, I have 4 left to go... One has it's beak through, but isn't doing too much-been this way for about 6 to 7 hours-still moving a bit though. The next one has broken a piece of shell off and I can sees the membrane, but I am not seeing much other movement.

And the 2 with side air pockets I was thinking about intervention. I can hear tapping from one of the eggs. There is so much racket going on due to the chicks already hatched.

Should I take the dried off chicks out of the bator so I can hear the
unhatched ones? I can't hear if there is any cheeping going on due to all the noise.

Hi again marie_martin,
I hope your batch is going well. The 2 silkies with the air cell on the side died between the 15th day (last candling) and the 20th day. I also am having trouble with one silkie that hatched and she had an air cell on the long side of the egg. I just did a close examination of her, and it appears that she has extra toenails on both feet (on the ones we would consider the thumb. I find it interesting that she has genetic developement issues and she also had a side air pocket. Not sure if the two are connected, but interesting.

PS I could hear the chicks tapping on the shells during hatch. I had my bator in the master bedroom closet and it was very quiet. I put my ear up to the open hole where the plug used to be. You may want to try that yourself when pipping starts.
