Gatorade????

I have a chick that I am worried about tonight, looks week to me, he is 3 days old, I am thinking he needs a little boost. Could I give him a drop or two of gatoraide? How about a little egg yolk?

Thanks for asking, sadly he didn't make it. I think I got another 24 hours out of him with the Gatoraide, and I started mixing egg yolk into to give him some protein. But sadly he just became too weak. I ordered save a chick so I will give it to the ones left. Are the Silkies particularly hard to raise because they are so small? Out of 8 birds I lost 3. And now I am freaked out about the ones left. Some are 2 weeks old and another one is just 1 week tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about you loss. I don't have Silkies so I can't help you much. I would differently be giving the remaining chicks the sav-a-chick. Are you keeping them under a red heat light? You maybe should repost this on the Emergencies/Diseases section.

UPDATE Well I guess we're ok now. Out of 8 chicks I have 5 left. I didn't want to go back and replace the last one as I felt the age difference would be getting too wide and I am glad that I made that decision cause 2 of the birds from the first batch are quite a bit bigger than the new little guy and one of the ones from the first batch and when they get excited they act like bulls and just run through them. Poor little guys. A friend of mine introduced me to a product called GrowGel, it is for new chicks but I ordered some and I am so glad I did cause I still worry about the newest one, is he eating enough and feeling strong. When I mix this stuff up, they go crazy for it. So I only mix up a tiny bit and mix it with food and water and then I know he is getting that and then picking throughout the day with the starter. So now onto what next to entertain my chicks!
