Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Onto other things after some soul searching I need to down size a little bit. I am getting into big trouble over my feed bill. That is just part of the cost of having the birds.............................

Okay, there is bunch of Wheaten, and Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. There are at least 3 blue wheaten cockerels. 2 of them are from Paul Smith in TX. I bought them as day old chicks in 2013. The other one came from April, another BYC member. Then there are 4 hens, and 4-5 pullets. The 4 hens are 2 from Wayne Meredith, 1 from April, and Reyvaughn. The pullets are 2 from April, and 2-3 from Paul Smith.

I will have a couple of cockerels, pullets, and hens that are bbs Ameraucana to sell in the spring after I make up my breeding pens.

I have a pair of Marans a blue copper hen, and a splash rooster (no copper)
'A, LA, LA, LA...... I can't hear you.... My feed bill is horrendous too, and I need to cut back. But, but, but....

Never did find that motivation this week, and it is almost over...

got many pens to clean tomorrow, and a couple that need processed......need to find it quickly.

Going to be a cold day to process. You need a heated room for that in this weather!
Oh, thats right, you have DH do all the outside in the cold wind stuff.
well yea,,,I figure if I gotta get bloody and stick my hand in there, he can go out in the cold,,, I will have the heater running in the shop,,,may be noisy but it is toasty..

Anyone know where I can get a chicken crate cheap? The kind like commercial haulers use. Would love one to hold birds on processing day.

Put an ad on CL (my answer for everything) Do you know anyone who's a commercial chicken hauler? Or someone who has their chickens hauled? You might be able to get beat up ones that aren't good for commercial hauling, but that would work for you. I have some that I bought a few years ago for around $20 each from a processor in Mifflintown who got them from a hauler.

what do you consider cheap,,,and would it have to be a crate

not sure if you ever seen the plastic crate I use for a transition brooder in the barn....we often come across these at sales....they may have a small crack or something like that....here you can see a corner of one,,,,,if you would have the space for something like this you could just put a lid on for the night..
