Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

snowing good here as well just shoveled 4" of really wet snow. I figure better to shovel 4"s twice than 8" or more at one shot. Plows are out but not alot of them and only on major roads ie state highways.
lol My dad just pulled in the drive with the plow! first time in 2 years we need plowed!! ha ha ha LOVE MY DADDY

pssss we prefer to pack the snow as solid as a rock as possible to deter anyone from visiting

Me too!!!

I sure have missed you guys. Things have been crazy around here and now i have a sick silky. She has had two doses of penicillin now.. Just waiting for some kind of response from her. Anyhow, whats new? Can anyone catch me up? Please.. :)

Thank you! Its nothing like that...i just noticed some white around their bums.....I think its from it being cold and them not roosting...they all have been sleeping on the floor cuddled together...its always a nice mess to clean in the am.....I will give them so yogurt and see if that helps...either way its good for them and a nice treat! :)

I notice on ours if they don't get dust baths for a couple of days they get more poo stuck on their fluffy feathers around their back end.... I try to clean the floor of the coop every week, but I try to do a mid week cleaning when they are inside a lot, I will add a bit of dry sand and ashes each time I clean and the birds are usually trying to dust before I can even finish what I am doing.

I don't know how your coop or run is set up, or if you have a dust bath area for them... but if you can provide them with an area to dust it may help them clean themselves up. Just nail together a 3'x3' or 4'x4' frame out of scrap wood and put in about 3 inches of dry sand and either DE or wood ashes. You can also do it by blocking off a corner of the floor in the coop and adding the sand. I think the dry grittiness of the sand and DE helps knock of the sticky poo... it always amazes me how clean the birds look after they roll around in the dirt for a while!

just a thought for all those doing spring hatches....what are you gonna do with all those males (sally)

Hubby does not want the hassle of loading and unloading the equipment, but if you bring your grown out birds to us we will process them for you,, you can stay and watch or leave and come back, up to you...we have not settled on prices yet and even when we do those prices will be negotiable, we like to barter for other things.....

as anyone knows that has processed, it is a 2 part process, they will need to go inside an be cleaned up better,,,this is why i can not quote a price,,,depend on how much of the process you want done..
