Of course when I had chicken questions the forum would be down!
Ruth keeps attacking Jaebels. Will run across the yard to do so. She's gonna be soup soon if she doesn't stop it. How can we get her to not be so mean? She's a good layer.

Niko went broody so I put 9 eggs under her. Checked 4 days later, 12 eggs. Checked today, day 9, and there are 14. I think Jaebels lays right next to her so Niko swipes them. I know I did not put that many green eggs under her. Will the newer eggs hatch or is it a lost cause? I will have to get a pencil out there and mark the 14 and then check under her every dang day.
Put the hen in time out. Three days to a week.
The eggs four days behind have a slight chance. The others don't.

Sprinkles is in the house tonight and not doing well. He's very wobbly and weak. I thought he was doing ok out there in the seperation pen, just waiting to get big enough to integrate, but apparently, he's been on a hunger strike :( I guess the other turkeys were reaching through the fencing when they could to steal some of his food, making it look like he was eating what I was giving him. When I brought him in, all he wanted to do was snuggle. He's like a magnet now! It was hard work to pry him away from me for 2 seconds to feed him! I cooked up a turkey egg, blended it with water, a few drops of tri-vi-sol, and 2 drops of mallasses and forced it down his throat with an eye dropper. I have him in the bathtub now with a couple chicks for company. They barely reach his knees but he needs someone, other than me, for the night to be with. I hope I can nurse him back to health. He's such a sweetie but a big baby too. Looks like he'll be back in the brooder stomping around again for a while. Too big for a brooder but too small for the coop. What am I going to do with him!

Hey Aurora, if you're still up...

This chick has been going at it for about an hour now. Should Assist? It looks like it's making a big hole instead of a zip...

I would but that's just me. I have a hard time staying hands off lol. Just go very slow and be careful. If you see blood, stop. If you expose a lot of the membrane, just dip your finger in some water to wet it down.
