EDIT: My fav (totally not for 11 year olds): Alien. Oh my gosh, soooo scary!

I saw A Haunting in Connecticut, which was a total waste.

A Haunting in Connecticut - Wouldn't waste my time. I live about 5 minutes away from that home and know somebody who rented the top floor for a couple of years. They never saw or heard anything strange.

I like Dawn of the Dead I don't think there's any sex scenes in it which is something you should be considering. Mostly just zombies running around. Some of those 80s horror movies have teens having sex every other scene.

Gosh i watched some things i shouldn't have when i was a kid....I'm pretty protective of what my 9 and 6 year olds see now even though i turned out ok.

I don't know if it was mentioned before, its not a horror...but what about Jurassic Park..(scares the crap outta me LOL)
My youngest was scared of Shrek for about 3 yrs...LOL
 
My DH watched Jurrasic Park with the boys when they were 7,8,and 10. I came home halfway through the movie to find all three boys velcroed to daddy.

Awesome movie
 
I have a very low tolerance for horror but my dad managed to get me to watch Maximum Overdrive with him when I was younger. It made me very wary of coke machines, I can tell you that, and it took me forever to be able to walk past a lawn mower easily . . . still, I could handle it because it was so humorous.
