Orpington - Silkie Cross?

Ok this is an old thread but still - I have some Orp/silkie crosses from my black Orptington rooster (now sadly deceased) and partridge silkie hen, they aren't fully feathered yet but appear to be straight black (regular feathering). They have indeed five toes and a bit of feather fluff on the legs, and also a dark colored, silkie type comb. Two of them are growing quite long tails so I take it those are the boys, they may develop a nice big rooster tail - my Orp rooster had hardly any tail at all. They are absolutely healthy and fine, no problem about the size disparity. Will post some pics. Not sure if they'll have a tuft on head, but I reckon I'll find out in a few weeks!

I have buff Oringtons x Blue silkie cross. Here is the picture.
Helena is a lighter Buff.

This one is from Harriett, with the same blue silkie roo. Harriett is a darker buff.

Very pretty! If you breed those together (I don't know their genders) or back to a silkie, you should get some silked offspring.

They're male and female and inseparable.... so you just made my millennium! 🥰😂 Ty

From what I've seen, you'd get medium-sized offspring. They'd be hard feathered like your Orp, but with the possibility of 5 toes, black skin, and probably some kind of tuft on their heads.

I have some silkie x frizzle cochins, and they are super cute. I like the straight combs they got from the cochin side too.

heres how mine turned out. black silkie roo and this orp mama hatched 6 chicks. 3 yellow with black racing stripes, 2 grey with a red face, and 1 darrrk brown with light brown face. all have 5 toes. anybody think theres a possibility of them being fluffy like a silkie?

Personally i have never shipped eggs myself.... but by what ive learned you just bubble wrap each egg.... and put it in a flat rate box with shredded paper. and you could just check for bulls eyes on your yolks when you eat the eggs. i wont get money till next week though... and would have to do money order.

how did they turn out I have a black silkie roo and buffs and Im thinking of hatching them out but didnt know if they would look good lol

we have a buff orpington hen that is apparently getting a little action from our silkie roo...does anyone know what those chicks would look like? So far we are eating the eggs, but the appear fertile and her feathers are all ruffled in the mornings...most signs say they are completing the deal when they mate.

Anyhow, at this point we are not planning on having babies, but if we choose to let them have a batch in the spring...does anyone know what they might look like or how that crossing would go? Would any chicks be in danger from the different sizes? The hen is giant and the roo is pretty darn small IMHO
Three days ago I hatched my first silkie buff orpington chick. The mother is a black silkie and the father is a buff orpington. The chick hatched with 5 toes and feathered legs and feet and buff coloring. It is 1/2 the size of the "normal" chicks. I'm mega curious to watch it grow! I hope this helped in some way on what you may end up with.
