Is it a trait of Black Australorps to not roost?

Or is somebody just trying to hoodwink me? This gal was telling me that they don't like to roost on the perches and so hers sleeps in the nest box, thus getting it all poopy.

I don't buy it being a trait of the breed, I think she just has a wacky bird.

What say youz guyz?

My Australorps always head for the highest possible perches. They like being high. If the lady's nests are higher then the roost that is probably her problem.

Even my new 3 week olds are roosting already (sometimes). My 6-7 month old roosted from the time I got her at about 2 months old. My roosts were higher than the nesting boxes too, but my birds all wanted to roost in the nest boxes instead. They weren't laying age yet, so we boarded up the entrances to the nest boxes and they immediately went to the roosts. After a month or so, we un-boarded the nesting boxes and they continued to use the perches they had been using.
