Dont judge the ducklings until they have fully feathered out, once they feather you will get a good idea of body condition and can see if there is any funky feathering. Until then just enjoy.

Lovely Toulouse, we have 4 now and adding more yet this fall.
Thank you! Both are beautiful. We got them from top lines. Paid a lot for them as well. I just love their personalities, and the cuteness factor sure doesn't hurt things wink.png

I never thought they would grow so fast. I can't believe they are only 10 weeks old(in these pictures at least). How insane is that?!

We have two females, but plan to find a male once they mature. I definitely want to breed them. Their mothers were champions.

I will wait until they feather out completely first. Hopefully I get some nice colouring smile.png Doesn't have to be pure, I just want something interesting.

My Khaki's have been laying since June, and the eggs are bigger, but I'd compare it to medium chicken egg. My muscovy hen lays eggs - jumbo sized.

i check it out everyday since i found this blog.....i hate the thot of shipping a little guy, i think that would be a terrifying ordeal and most hatcheries want a min purchase, so i keep looking because i swear i love that little duck, she is part of the family  and she is one totally spoiled little duck,

I have just one female black and white magpie call duck named Bunny.  She's an indoor duck and my little baby.  I'm considering the possibility of getting a second duck, if the right female, white, newly hatched call duckling comes along.

She is beautiful!  I so desperately want some Magpies.

We are a ranching family in the southeast Texas panhandle where we run a small commercial flock of hair sheep.  We have 10 Black Cochin bantams (3 frizzled), 5 Splash Cochin bantams, and one grumpy Black Silkie bantam hen.  Other critters on the outfit include 3 good using horses, 3 barn cats, a Cardigan Corgi, and my pet Boer/Spanish nanny goat.

I just love them.  They are the first ducks I have ever hatched.  I read that Calls were the toughest thing to hatch and that the better quality ducks where the most difficult.  So I thought if I aimed high with the more expensive show quality eggs I might be set up for a very expensive failure.  I can't pick out a favorite, I just love them all so much!  love.gif

Thanks!  The magpies are my favorites, although I'm looking for a plain white one now.

Well, it appears that I have a sick duck.  She is pretty wobbly when she is standing and she is holding her head down, like when they are just sitting, and she doesn't seem to have an appetite at all.  I don't understand, she was just fine yesterday.  I went ahead and isolated her from the others, any ideas what could be going on?

We lost her.  :(
