I asked at Western Farm today and was told they don't carry it, but didn't go upstairs to see if they would order it. Good idea

Larry said Larsen's can order it; I'll check their price too.

awww, poor Lucy! and her people!

I'm not sure if I should start a North Bay thread for this... does anyone in North Bay area like King Feeds and want to go in on a half a pallet?

I bought a bag of their Pro-Am layer pellets at the Stockton show, and can't find anyone up here to sell me some more.
I called King's (L.A. Hearne Co) today and talked to Larry today; he has a guy who can deliver it here but needs a half pallet to make it worth the trip for him. That's 20 bags, and can be a combination of different feed types.
They'll be around $16 a bag, depending on fuel costs. They were $13 at the show... next time I'll buy all I can carry!

He's calling me back tomorrow with price details. Please PM or email me if you want to join in. Thanks!

King sells in the Santa Cruz area, I just bought a 50lb layer pellet bag which lasts us a long time.

Did you ask them where is the store that is furthest north that they sell to?

Good luck,

Hugh

Hey I just discovered this awesome thread! May I join in? I live in Berkeley and have to put in a plug for the Biofuel Oasis for organic feed and other "urban farm" supplies, at Sacramento and Ashby. They get their feed fresh and local--Modesto Mills, I think. One of the store's co-owners wrote the book Farm City, if you've read that.

Anyway, I'm so glad to have a group of locals to ask questions of.

BTW I ADORE the fried oysters at the Boathouse.

Great to know! I work in Berkeley, so would have plenty of opportunity to go the the Biofuel Oasis. I am getting hungry now. Hmm, is it too late to get out to The Boathouse? (yes,

This is so cool. Chickens in Oakland, and a lot!!

When my aunt was alive she lived there, for years and years. I didn't visit much, but I can't say I ever saw a chicken in Oakland, so I think it is so cool chickens are in Oakland!

I just got a new batch of chicks! They are SO adorable. And musical. Like songbirds!

We are raising them to six weeks (the whole brooder stage) then distributing them to folks who would rather bypass this step but still want tame, hand raised pullets. We have Golden Sex Links, Mottled Javas, and Black Australorps. PM me if you want to ad some to your flock.
