Ok guys, gender question.
I was supposed to get all pullets in my order, but at 8 weeks of age, my favorite "pullet" has a very pronounced beard and muff compared to the others, AND is showing a bit more comb development! I assumed the beard and muff just meant that I ended up with one good bird out of five (still not terrible by hatchery standards,) but now I'm starting to see little bumps on the comb where the others are still flat.
So, could this mean that I ended up with one cockerel and three pullets that will eventually have beards and muffs? I'm definitely seeing muffles on the others, but the beard area is barely showing fuzz indicators on the girls. (One pullet is completely lacking any indication of beard or muff.) Does the beard come in more slowly on the girls?
I will get some pics tomorrow.
