i just got two adult silkies and they will only eat pellets, scrambled eggs, oats, and mealworms. Ive tried offering them lettuce pasta and other stuff but they dont even try it. They dont even eat yogurt or cottage cheese and ive heard that those are chickens favorites. I got these silkies as rescues from a meat market so they have never eaten anything except mash their hole lives. Do you think they will ever learn to eat the treats that other chickens love?

Try added some of your chick starter to it. That's what I did for my "babies" that are now 7 months old!! They loved it!! I also warmed in the microwave!!

our rescued chickens had never had any variety in their diet at all, nor had they ever been on normal grass and dirt... yet they eat just about any treats we chose to give them including yoghurt, and REALLY quickly worked out that scratching the grass and dirt up was fun

give them time, they may be in shock.

Our 3 year old EE, Speckles, jumped up on our wicker couch, right up on my DH as he was eating a cup of yogurt! I told him, you're going to lose and sure enough she stuck her beak in it and finished it! Then promptly shook her head and gave him a yogurt shower!

My bantams hate it and won't eat it. Don't blame them. Yogurt is gross and disgusting and smells like something rotten. YUCK. My chickies have good taste and love yummy things.
