Here are my Polish chicks at age Week 1. They are now 2.5 weeks old and are growing up so fast. They are so gorgeous. I have 10. 2 black crested white polish, 2 buff laced, 2 gold laced, 2 silver laced and 2 white crested blue polish.

Giving a nice stretch while socializing with Rummy, my Airedale terrier. Where the chicks are, you'll find Rummy there too.

We don't have any names for our chicks yet.

The gold laced and the silver laced are the prettiest in the batch, but the white crested is the funniest looking.

The polish chicks are very friendly, tame, docile and quiet.

The Cochins can be cheeky and they have distinct personalities.

The buff frizzle and black Cochin bantam perch on the brooder while hanging out with Rummy, my Airedale.

Great pics!   Your babies are so beautiful.  love  I am really surprised that your dogs don't bother them.  Mine would always lick their lips when they saw mine through the brooders.

Hi BloominOrchard,

No I don't know anything about hatching chicks, in fact, I only started my new chicken hobby recently, so I'm very new to this.

I ordered 1 batch of Cochin Batams online, got so hooked, and ended up ordering a 2nd batch of Polish (the ones in this thread) and now, I am also on the way to get a 3rd batch of Silkies arriving Aug 16th-18th.

I still don't know much about hatching chicks and stuff, and don't know where this hobby will take me, but I'm looking forward to seeing eggs and how my chicks turn out.

Currently, I have only 1 laying hen, she is an adult Dutch bantam, and the queen of the flock. She bosses all the adults around, inc white rocks who are 3 times her size. She's the ultimate queen grump hen. Pardon my speech. But that's how I'd describe her. She hatched one sole chick on her own and he's now the spoilt brat rooster in the flock.

Want to trade dogs?  Just kidding, but my doxie is quite taken with the chicks.  He quivers and drools (not a good sign) when he is near them.  I'm doing some work with him out at the run.  We sit on the outside, and I "remind" him not to run at the chicks or frighten them by barking.  He's doing better, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to trust him.

Those babies are adorable.  You are quite a good photographer, too.  I've been trying to capture one of those stretches for 2 weeks.  What sort of camera were you using?

From the Little House Under the Prairie with 1 wonderful husband, 3 rescue dogs, 2 rescue cats, 12 sweet laying hens (4 EE's, 2 Blue Copper Marans, BO, Delaware, Golden Campine, 2 Marans mixes, Welsumer) and a lovely EE rooster (Jake), a happy Marans mix broody with 3 mixed chicks  AND now another darned broody.  It's complicated.

Hi Sharol,

I use a Canon Digital Rebel EOS 350D, and a EF-S 18-55mm lens. Just the default lens that came with it. Thanks for the photography compliment, photography is my hobby. I like combining all my hobbies, chicken raising, dog training and photography all in one. Makes me pretty happy.
