The spoiled brat...That gave me a good laugh! Love it. It cracks me up to hear how others talk about their chickens like I do!
Id love to see pics of the Queen and her prince

Do you have any?
Great pics too! My dog Prada (a boxer) she has been a foster mom to many puppies over her years, I just never thought she would take on the chicks. Its funny as all get out, we call her chicken momma now, bc she always has to round up the chicks and make sure everyone is accounted for. Esp after the darn raccoon attack. She is on gaurd now and often goes out at nite just to chase off any poss predators.
Well if you have more pics be sure to let me know! They are great!
Oh and what kind will you be getting later?

Here is the queen of my flock. She is super tiny as she is a bantam, my guess is she is a Dutch Bantam (Columbian color). She was given to us by a couple friend who was trying to get rid of too many chickens in their flock.

She is 3 years old, and has hatched one egg so far (the rest we took and ate). She is a good consistent layer for us, and we love her very much.

We don't have any names for our chickens, not sure if I could remember 30 names, :)

This is her son, the "spoiled brat" prince of the flock.

The baby when he was 1 day old. Mama bantam showed him off.

My Dutch bantam can fly, and we suspect she went and got herself preggers in March by our neighbor's black rooster, because at that time, she was our lone chicken. No roosters or other chickens here for that matter to fertilize her eggs. Anyway, this baby boy is now 4 months old (hatched in early April) and he crows every morning now. He is getting pretty feisty. He does his best to boss his way around, because as he was growing, his mum protected him too much against all the others, and now, he's really really spoilt although he's one of the younger smaller ones. I try to stay out of chicken politics, but if he gets too rough with my Cochin and Polish chicks when they free range, I might have to rehome him.

I know, I sound a bit tough, but I'm a wee bit protective over my cochin bantams and polish now because they're so much smaller than the Rocks and Orpingtons. I'm getting Silkies which are coming the week of Aug 18th. I can't wait. After that, I'm going to stop getting more. At least, no more till next year... ha ha ha

My other Airedale's name is Kimi. He turns 5 at Thanksgiving this year. He is mellower, and not a hunter like Rummy is. (Kimi has hunted and killed a baby rabbit in the past, but nothing lately) Ironically, he is also less partial to the chicks and chickens outside. He does his bonding practice sessions with me and Rummy and the chicks but I can tell he can't wait for them to be over, and he tolerates the chicks jumping on him, nipping on his beard and muzzle hair, but I think he isn't IN LOVE with the chicks. Rummy on the other hand, can't have enough time and cuddles with the chicks.

The 3rd Airedale on the left belongs to my friend, he stays with me when she goes on holiday. He (Gromit) is a great hunter and kills things too, but I managed to train him to accept the baby chicks by the 2nd day he stayed with us.

That's the Cochin chick on Kimi's forearm. He doesn't seem very interested in the chicks.

Kimi looks extremely bored, while Rummy just loves all the chick time.

Rummy and his chicks frolicking all over him. That's Gromit in the background.

I am so thrilled by the way the Cochin Bantams and Polish behave and look. They are so calm, friendly, and beautiful. Next, the Silkies come and I can't wait to see them, own them, and spend time raising them. The best part about raising the Cochin Bantams and Polish is that they look one way when they are 1 day old, and then, its such a surprise to see how they eventually turn out as adults. Now they are growers, and I'm already so excited.

Hey
Here are my Polish chicks at age Week 1. They are now 2.5 weeks old and are growing up so fast. They are so gorgeous. I have 10. 2 black crested white polish, 2 buff laced, 2 gold laced, 2 silver laced and 2 white crested blue polish.

Giving a nice stretch while socializing with Rummy, my Airedale terrier. Where the chicks are, you'll find Rummy there too.

The gold laced and the silver laced are the prettiest in the batch, but the white crested is the funniest looking.

The polish chicks are very friendly, tame, docile and quiet.

The Cochins can be cheeky and they have distinct personalities.

The buff frizzle and black Cochin bantam perch on the brooder while hanging out with Rummy, my Airedale.

I was wondering if you'd have a photo of the Little black/rusty Polish as a hen/Roo???
